ACADEMY NEWS
Bromley Football Academy are offering potential young talented players between the ages of 16-18 an opportunity to train fulltime and pursue a sporting career while continuing their academic studies in an educational environment. The working partnership established between Kelsey Park Sports College and Bromley FC in 2007 has already created a unique opportunity for young Academy players to underpin the senior playing infrastructure that can in time support the 1st team squad.
The Academy has received the full support of the Chairman Jerry Dolke who has a vested interest in developing future players for Bromley FC. The Club were keen to contribute to the development of football in the local in area in order to provide a high level of coaching and playing opportunities for young players to emerge and represent Bromley FC.
The Football Academy in partnership with Kelsey Park Sports College are currently looking to select a new cohort of players for Season 2008/2009 where successful students will start their education in September 2008. Trials will be held over the Easter Term Holidays on Monday April 7th and Tuesday 8th April 2008 where a new group of players will be selected for Bromley Academy.
Players will perform in trial matches and training sessions over the course of both days to determine their suitability and selection to the programme. After the initial trial process a group of selected players will then be invited to attend a presentation at the college to include interviews with their parents to discuss each player’s suitability to the course and shown around the new state of the art facilities.
The staff will then review each player’s academic references, predicted grades, character and personality and more importantly their football ability. The Academy will play in the Football Conference Youth League that is seen as the senior national youth competition outside of the professional game. Regular updates on the academy including fixtures and news will be available on the club website throughout the season.
Kelsey Park Sports College has recently invested heavily in refurbishing their facilities with a new sports hall, changing facilities, state of the art fitness centre together with three outdoor pitches with dedicated football training areas. The college has also built a brand new educational suite specifically designed for Academy students with full computerised interactive white boards and personal computers.
The college offers a BTEC Sports National Diploma specifically designed in sport that will benefit and enhance each student’s opportunity of finding a career pathway and future employment in a sporting environment. The course will offer the equivalent to three “A” levels that will allow each student the opportunity continue their studies at University as well as gaining FA Coaching Qualifications and Sports Leadership Awards.
The Academy aims are to set the highest football, social and academic standards and promote a positive environment in terms of player development and educational achievement for players representing Bromley FC and studying at Kelsey Park Sports College. I would like to thank our current sponsors the Glades Shopping Centre and Kevin Mouatt of SGB who are also sponsoring the Academy.
